Welcome to the Mighty Eastern Region’s Northern Cluster Area Work Day 2023 hosted by our Newton, Massachusetts Chapter.

We are grateful to have an opportunity to come together to fellowship, work, and play in the name of Jack and Jill.  This year’s theme is Stronger Together, United as One. The Newton Chapter, along with the Regional team, have worked tirelessly to develop an impactful program for you.

Friday Night events have been planned to maximize networking opportunities and enjoyable activities for our mothers and teens.  Our mothers will dine with hip-hop trivia while our teens engage in interactive games, creating memorable times with their peers.

The Keynote Speaker is Goldie Taylor, a veteran journalist, cable news political analyst, author, and human rights activist who will discuss her personal journey related to equity issues in education and advocacy.

This year’s Area Work Day will feature virtual workshops on Thursday, October 19, 2023, and in person sessions on Saturday, October 21, 2023, for Mothers and Associates.

Teens and Middle Schoolers will have in person workshops on Saturday, October 21, 2023.  It is important to the regional team and to the host chapter that there is something for all in attendance, whether you are a new member, seasoned member, experienced member who wants to learn more on how to support our premier organization, or a middle schooler or teen looking for tools on how to dream yourself into spaces you never thought you would be.

The Newton Chapter has curated workshops for moms on topics from health to wealth.  The teen workshops will include financial literacy, incorporating a real-life budgeting and decision-making simulation.  The middle schoolers will be engaged in a hands-on STEM activity and learn about the rich history of drum and drill performance in African-American culture.

Mothers will also have the opportunity to participate in workshops held by the region including bylaws, membership, programming, protocol, foundation, Digital Cheetah, QuickBooks, and teen chaperone certification.   We have a special workshop for our new mothers as well.  Our teens will hear from their Regional Teen Officers and complete modules for which they will receive credit.

All mother members registered for Area Work Day must attend the General Session on Saturday and two workshops (one can be the virtual workshops held on Thursday evening).  You will be able to purchase journal ads to promote chapter events or businesses on the registration site. Information about ads pricing can be found on the registration site.

Come prepared to be of service to others, obtain valuable Jack and Jill information and support the Friday Night Fundraising events where proceeds will benefit Jack and Jill Foundation and Brookview House.

The Newton Chapter and Eastern Region Leadership Team look forward to hosting you.  To register the mother member’s primary email address in Digital Cheetah is required to complete the registration process.
