This workshop aims to equip new members with the necessary tools to be actively engaged and effective in order to be positively impactful in the work with their chapters while supporting the mission and vision of our beloved Jack and JIll. An emphasis will be placed on Chapter Operations, Chapter Protocol and working to uphold our organizations' Guiding Principles. Participants will leave ready to have a fulfilling Jack and Jill experience - committed to doing the right work, the right way, while creating memorable and engaging experiences for our children while serving ALL children. Healing After Heartbreak: A Mother’s Journey Through Loss and Advocacy After Suicide |
Niesha Howard is a powerful advocate for mothers and children everywhere. A Jacksonville, Florida native, she has always been a proponent of self-empowerment for members of the community in which she lives and serves. Realizing as a young mom that the traditional path of obstetric care didn’t fit the mold for her desired experience, she surrounded herself with evidence-based providers. By doing so, she created the birth story that gave her feelings of dignity, resilience, and transformative accomplishment. Those characteristics would continue as a theme throughout her life. She is a board member of the North Florida chapter of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, where she focuses on culturally competent communication to break down the stigma of mental health in racially and ethnically diverse populations. |

In our roles as wives and mothers, most of our time is spent taking care of the needs of others. However, finding ways to care for ourselves is crucial to our own sustainability and those around us. This training will provide tools for stress management, and methods to reduce stress and prevent burnout. Moms will evaluate their own stress levels and look at some of the root causes of burnout.
