Jack and Jill of America, Incorporated, has had a strong influence in developing a positive impact in the lives of African American children and families since 1938.

The Montgomery County, PA chapter is partnering with Crescent Foundation, a Philadelphia-based, non-profit organization that supports sickle cell strivers and allies.

Sickle cell disease (SCD) is a genetic blood disorder characterized by the production of abnormal hemoglobin, leading to distorted red blood cells that can block blood flow and cause severe pain, organ damage, and increased risk of infections. Approximately 100,000 Americans are affected by this condition, of which more than 90% are African Americans who suffer from its debilitating effects. 

Supporting the Crescent Foundation is a meaningful way for Jack and Jill members to make a positive impact in the fight against SCD. The foundation provides education, resources, and advocacy for individuals with this condition. By engaging with the Crescent Foundation, members can contribute to awareness initiatives and support programs that empower affected families.

Furthermore, involvement in this cause aligns with Jack and Jill's mission to cultivate a strong sense of community and social responsibility. This collective effort benefits those living with SCD and educates our youth about the importance of advocacy and compassion. Supporting the Crescent Foundation is not just about addressing a health crisis; it's an opportunity for Jack and Jill members to make a lasting difference in the lives of individuals and families affected by sickle cell disease.
